University College Birmingham (UCB) invited Health Exchange to provide a Keynote Speaker for its staff Teaching and Learning Showcase on mental health and wellbeing in education in July.
Keynote speaker Chantelle Atkinson, from the Health Exchange, told the audience 50 per cent of mental health problems are established by the age of 14 and that one in four people will develop a mental health issue.
Health Exchange Works with UCB to support students’ mental and physical health and self-esteem. Speaking after the event Chantelle said: “I’m impressed mental health issues are on the agenda today. A lot of universities are starting to talk about it, but UCB has made it central to today’s programme.
“The students who I’ve met at UCB have been very willing to talk and share their feelings. Now I want them to use what they have learnt and pass it on.”
